Hosting and publishing

What does PodOrigin actually host?

PodOrigin stores and delivers your published audio, keeps the podcast and episode details, generates the RSS feed, provides podcast players and records basic download activity.

Do I still need podcast hosting if I already have a website?

Yes. Your website presents the show to people browsing the web. A podcast host supplies the RSS feed and media delivery used by listening apps. PodOrigin can provide players for your website, but the hosting service remains the source of the published podcast.

Do I upload every episode to Apple Podcasts and Spotify separately?

No. Each episode is published once. You submit the podcast feed to each directory during setup. After a directory accepts the feed, it uses that feed to find new episodes. Directory approval and availability remain subject to that directory’s own rules.

How do I submit my podcast to listening apps?

Open My Account and choose Submissions. PodOrigin shows the exact RSS feed to use, checks that the podcast has the required details and gives you the official submission link for each directory. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and other directories require you to sign in to their service and may ask you to verify ownership. You can record each submission as submitted, live or needing attention in PodOrigin.

Which audio files can I upload?

The current release accepts MP3, M4A and WAV audio.

Can I schedule an episode?

Yes. Publish immediately or choose a future date and time. You can also edit the show and episode information after publication.

What artwork does PodOrigin accept?

New show and episode artwork must be a square JPEG or PNG between 1400 × 1400 and 3000 × 3000 pixels.

Using PodOrigin on your website

Should I choose WordPress Site or Other Sites?

Choose WordPress Site when your website runs WordPress and you want to manage your podcast and episodes there. Install PodOrigin Creator and connect it with a one-time code. Choose Other Sites when you want to build players and add them with embed code. No plugin or connection code is required.

How do I add a player to a site that does not use WordPress?

Open My Account, choose Your Site, then choose Other Sites. Choose what the player should play, customise its design and content, check the live preview and copy the embed code. In your website editor, add an embed code or HTML element and paste the code.

Plans and usage

What counts towards my monthly allowance?

New audio uploaded during the month. PodOrigin enforces the allowance by file size. The published hour figure is an estimate based on 128 kbps audio, so larger files may represent fewer hours.

Will I pay more if an episode gets a lot of downloads?

No. Listener downloads are unlimited on every plan. Downloads do not reduce the monthly upload allowance.

Does unused upload allowance roll over?

No. The allowance resets each month.

Does annual billing give me one large annual upload allowance?

No. Annual billing changes when you pay, not how usage is measured. You receive the same monthly upload allowance as the equivalent monthly plan. Annual plans charge for ten months and provide twelve months of service.

Can I host several podcasts on one plan?

No. Each plan hosts one podcast. You can manage more than one podcast under an account, but each podcast needs its own plan.

Reliability and access

What happens if a payment fails?

Every plan includes a seven-day payment-failure grace period. Uploading and publishing remain available during that period. After the grace period, new uploads and publishing are blocked until access is restored. The failed payment does not automatically delete the podcast or its existing audio.

Will an episode link change if PodOrigin moves the audio?

No. The episode link in the RSS feed stays the same if PodOrigin moves the audio to another storage system.

What analytics are included?

The current service provides basic download reporting by podcast and episode, including daily activity. PodOrigin does not currently claim IAB certification or promise demographic data that only individual listening platforms may hold.

Moving an existing podcast

How does PodOrigin choose my plan?

We use the busiest 31-day period in your last 12 months of publishing. Your recommended plan is ready for your busy months, not just the average.

Why does a migration start with a 12-month plan?

Your first year covers the move and 12 months of hosting. Annual hosting includes two months free compared with monthly billing.

What will I pay to migrate?

Your quote shows the hosting plan, migration charge and total before checkout. The annual plan includes part of your existing catalogue. Extra catalogue storage is charged once at AUD$19 per commenced 10 GB.

How do you confirm that I own the podcast?

We send a secure link and six-digit code to the owner email published in your RSS feed. You must confirm ownership before checkout or migration.

Will my podcast go offline during the move?

No. Your existing podcast stays live while we copy and check every episode. You choose when the new feed goes live.

Can I keep my existing WordPress feed?

Yes. Connect your WordPress site and use PodOrigin Creator to publish through your existing feed address. Your listeners keep following the same feed.

Can I redirect my WordPress podcast feed if I move away?

Yes. Your feed address stays under your control, so you can redirect it to another provider later.

Support

Can I ask for help choosing a plan?

Yes. Send your usual episode length, publishing frequency and audio format. We can help estimate the monthly file allowance you are likely to need.

Is there a guaranteed support response time?

PodOrigin does not currently publish a guaranteed response time. Support is handled by people, and we will not advertise a service level that has not been formally established.
